Considerate, Co-operative, Confident

Modern Foreign Language Curriculum Page

Our School Vision: Our goal is to produce members of society who are Considerate to everyone they meet, who have a Co-operative approach to life and who are Confident in each other and in themselves to strive for the very best that they can be.

We aim to achieve this by using Christian values as our guide and helping them to grow within a caring and inclusive community

How MFL fits into the vision: At St. Bartholomew's, our aim is that children develop inquisitive minds, a spirit of curiosity and a passion for life-long learning. We are committed to educating all our children to equip them with the skills and confidence to fully achieve in an ever changing world. Our curriculum stimulates enjoyment of, and commitment to, learning as a means of encouraging the best possible progress and the highest attainment for all our pupils. It also assists our children to develop enquiring minds and the ability to think rationally. This prepares them effectively for the next stage in their education.

Our MFL Subject Leader: Hello, my name is Miss Kitchin and I lead Modern Foreign Languages.  I am passionate in immersing children into language learning and to develop their interest and curiosity through an introduction to the Spanish language from an early age.

Our MFL Curriculum: Our MFL Curriculum follows the National Curriculum and provides a high-quality language education that fosters pupils' curiosity and deepens their understanding of the world. The teaching enables pupils to express their ideas and thoughts in another language and to understand and respond to its speakers, both in speech and in writing.

Our intent is for our children to develop a love for the Spanish language.Through the teaching and learning of Spanish we celebrate ideas about individual identity and community; shape children’s ideas about language learning as well as giving them a new perspective on their own language and a better understanding of their own cultural capital.
