English Activity

The children have been sent home with packs and within these are lots of independent writing activities, spelling activities as well as some reading tasks.

To add to this I will be setting assignments for the children on various websites. All of the usernames and passwords for these will either be in the children's packs or their homework books.

These will include:

English activities on Education City https://www.educationcity.com/

Spelling activities on Spelling Shed https://play.edshed.com/login

English activities on Purple Mash https://www.purplemash.com/sch/stbarts-ol12

Children are familiar with all of these sites.

I will send notifications by email when assignments are live so that you know which websites to be looking at.

Science

This half term our topic is called 'The Wind In The Willows'

This half term we will be looking at:

Living things in their environments

This half term children will learn about a variety of habitats and the plants and animals that live there. They will learn to tell the difference between things that are living, dead and things that have never been alive, and apply this in a range of contexts. They will make observations
of a local habitat (if possible) and the creatures that live there, investigating conditions in local microhabitats and how they affect the minibeasts found within them. The children will research a range of global habitats and how the living things that live there are suited to
their environments, and also look at how animals depend on plants to survive (food chains).

Create a nature journal (just with paper or whatever you have) to display your work over the next few weeks.

Give it a title, write about anything you found, draw pictures or insert pictures.

Please send pictures or information to the Year 2 email address which is: year2@st-bartholomews.lancs.sch.uk

Here is Daisy's amazing PowerPoint on Habitats. Have a look and enjoy :)

Maths Activity

The children have been sent home with packs and within these are lots of different maths activities, including: x tables, shape, number work, symmetry etc.

To add to this I will be setting assignments for the children on various websites. All of the usernames and passwords for these will either be in the children's packs or their homework books.

These include:

Education city https://www.educationcity.com/

Purple mash https://www.purplemash.com/sch/stbarts-ol12

Times table rockstars https://ttrockstars.com/

Maths shed https://www.mathshed.com/en-gb

Top Marks https://www.topmarks.co.uk/maths-games/hit-the-button

I will send notifications by email when assignments are live so that you know which websites to be looking at.

Geography

This half term our topic is called 'The Wind In The Willows'

During the summer term, children will be thinking about what happens during the season of summer, what the weather is like in summer including what happens to the length of the day, and what happens to plants and animals. Children will make links to learning in science and previous work on hot and cold places of the world in Year One.

I would like you to create an ongoing journal (just with paper or whatever you have) to present the information and answer the key questions. There will be a new one every week.
