Thanks,

Mrs Dawson :)

Well done to Daisy, Lilly, Lily Theo and Lacey H,  who all guessed the correct answer to Thursday's challenge, which was 'John'.

Here is your Easter challenge

I would like you to try and make an Easter box or basket using only material you have at home. Be creative :)

Then, fill it with chocolate and enjoy!

You have all done an amazing job and have made me very proud to be your teacher! Have a lovely Easter holiday.

 love

Mrs Dawson :)

Science Activity

Week 1 and week 2

This half term our topic is called 'The Farm Shop'. We have been looking at different seeds and watching them grow.

The children were sent home with a seed to plant, help it germinate and watch it grow. Please continue to do this and send me updates on how your seed is doing. You could send pictures or information to the Year 2 email address which is: year2@st-bartholomews.lancs.sch.uk

As well as this, you could do some practical activities at home including:

Will seeds start to grow in the dark?

What other things do we need to do to keep plants healthy?

Children could research this and update me with what they find out.

Week beginning Monday 30th March: Please complete the 'Share what you know about seeds' activity from your plants booklet this week for science.

Observe your seeds, write how they have changed and email me with your observations :)

Here are some of your seeds :)

Design and Technology Activity

Week 1 and week 2

Fitting with our 'The Farm Shop' topic I would like you to design and make a salad that you can enjoy with your family.

Design, make and evaluate

  • Investigate different salads, including vegetarian and those including meat or fish.
  • Provide taste samples of various salads including some more unusual combinations such as fruits like orange and some with more unusual ingredients such as edamame beans if you can find them.
  • Draw or sketch products and annotate drawings.
  • Plan the sequence of actions needed to make your salad. Record the plan by drawing and using sketches, with annotation where appropriate
  • Make your salad and enjoy it!
  • Then evaluate what you liked/ disliked and how it compared to other salads you tried.

Week beginning Monday 30th March: Please try and complete this activity this week as new activities will be set next week.

Have a look at some of the amazing learning you have done so far! :)
