Read to yourself or out loud to an adult for 10 minutes each day. Remember read with expression, pausing at the commas. Try to read a variety of different texts.
Fun Activities...
1.Build a model Celtic house or Celtic den. You can find out about Celtic houses on the BBC history website and BBC Bitesize. If you can't build one you could draw one.
2. Plan an indoor Treasure Hunt for your Mum, Dad, brother or sister. What clues will you give them? How many treasures will you hide? How do you judge the winner? What's the prize for winning?
3. Make a Boot Camp with different stations- star jumps, forward rolls etc. Time yourself and see if you can improve your time every day.
4. Design and make a board game to help you practise your times tables. What will your game look like? What will be the rules of the game? What will be the instructions? Will it have action cards? Will you use a dice and counters? How will a player win?
Email pictures of any of these or your own fun activities and I will add them to the gallery.
Take a look at some of Year 3's fab home learning!
And more lock-down learning!
Maths Activities
Multiplication and division
This week we will be focusing on:-
- Counting from 0 in multiples of 4, 8, 50 and 100.
- Recalling and using multiplication and division facts for the 3, 4 and 8 multiplication tables.
Please practise counting up from 0 in multiples of 4,8, 50 and 100. Practise your 3, 4 and 8 times tables. Learn how knowing one times tables facts can help us with more tricky times table facts.
Can you draw number lines and draw arrays (see above) and look for patterns and relationships between the 2, 4 and 8 times tables? What do you notice?
Have a go at this challenge.
There are some activities to complete on Education City too.
Times Tables
Keep practising your times tables everyday and keep timing yourselves to do it in under 3 minutes. Well done, those of you who have got 60/60 for 3 times and have gone up another level. (Award yourself 5 DJs)
Remember to go onto Times Table Rock stars. There are also practice sheets in your packs.
Topic Activity
Romans
Over the coming weeks we are going to be learning about what Britain was like in the time of the Romans. Before the Romans invaded, the people who lived in Britain were the Celts. The Celts were not one group. They were divided up into tribes which lived in different parts of Britain, each one having their own chief or king.
I would like to to do the following activities this week.
1) Find out the answers to the following questions:-
What is a tribe?
Why might there be so many tribes?
Why might tribes have attacked each other sometimes?
2) Research a Celtic tribe living in Britain when the Romans invaded.
You can find out about:-
- Where they lived in Britain.
- Who their leader was.
- What they wore.
- What they ate.
- What their houses looked like.
- What jobs they had...
Don't forget to email me your pictures to:
year3@st-bartholomews.lancs.sch.uk
and I will put them on our scrolling page.
