SUMMER TERM -WEEK 12-Year 2 - Working At HomeFrom 13th July 2020 |
Hello!
We have finally reached the last week of term, and what a strange term it has been. I am very proud of how hard you have continued to work at home and all the lovely work you have sent me. This weeks grid is the last week of planned learning set and sent by myself before you move into year 3 and become juniors. However, you can still access online resources at home over the summer if you would like to continue your learning.
Well done, you have been a lovely class and I will miss you.
Stay safe and have a lovely summer,
Best wishes,
Mrs Dawson :)

This half term's topic is called 'Buckets and Spades'
English Activity
The children have been sent home with packs and within these are lots of independent writing activities, spelling activities as well as some reading tasks.
To add to this I will be setting assignments for the children on various websites. All of the usernames and passwords for these will either be in the children's packs or their homework books.
These will include:
English activities on Education City https://www.educationcity.com/
Spelling activities on Spelling Shed https://play.edshed.com/login
English activities on Purple Mash https://www.purplemash.com/sch/stbarts-ol12
Children are familiar with all of these sites.
Science
This half term we will be looking at:
Materials
This Materials unit will teach your child about the uses of everyday materials including wood, plastic, metal, glass, brick, paper and cardboard. Children then go on to compare the suitability of different everyday materials for different purposes. They explore how objects made of some everyday materials can change shape and how the recycling process is able to reuse some
everyday materials numerous times. Finally, they will learn that some materials can be found naturally and some materials have to be made.

History
This half term we will be looking at:
Victorian Holidays
In this unit the children will develop their knowledge and understanding of the past.
They will:
- Recognise the distinction between present and past in their own and other people's lives (e.g. leisure and tourism in Victorian times).
- Identify some similarities and differences between ways of life in different periods (e.g. seaside resorts now and then).
- Know where some people and events fit into a chronological framework by using common words and phrases about the passing of time (before, after, a long time ago, past, Victorian times…).
Mason's amazing shell for his art work this week!
Look at Leo's plant! It has grown lots over the 'learning from home' period. Can anyone guess what is growing on it?
