SUMMER TERM -WEEK 2-

Year 1 - Working At Home

From 27th April 2020

Your child will be set weekly activities for English, Maths, Topic and also we will give you other ideas you can do at home. These will be either online activities or refer to work in the packs sent home. We will update the year 1 class page weekly. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Please bear in mind that there will be times when these links / sites are not working due to the high demand from all school children and teachers. Don't worry just complete the activities when you can.

Please keep sending us emails and photographs of what you are doing at home,and at the end of the week we will upload them for everyone to see the following week. We love to see them!

Writing Activities

  • Each day write a sentence or sentences about something you have done that day. 

        

Reading Activities

 There are lots of different ebooks the children can read on Oxford Owls website. They are reading books we use in school and they have activities the children can do after. Please aim for your child to read 1 or 2 books a week.  

You will need to register ( it is free) so you can access the books. Please access the books for children aged 5-6 as these are what they are reading in class.

 Have a go at writing a book review for one of the books you have a read. 

Think about: Write / draw your responses

  • What was the title?
  • Draw a picture about the story.
  • Write a sentence to describe the story
  • What was the best part of the story?
  • Who were the characters in the story?

Maths Activities

This weeks focus: Addition & Subtraction & Statistics

Over this week please complete these tasks.

  • Using toys and objects at home, make some numbers sentences. Can you move the objects around to make different number sentences.
  • Using +, -, =
  • see image below to give you an example.  
  •  Look at the pictogram below and answer the following questions.

1) Which fruit is the most popular?

2) Which fruit is the least popular?

3) Which fruits do more than 5 people like?

4) Which fruit do only 2 people like?

5) If you were to add your vote which fruit would you choose? Does that change the results for the most popular or least popular fruit?

You can change the pictures by clicking on the picture and selecting a new category, remember all the pictures  need to be from the same category!

Topic activities

Task 1 

Have a go at making paper aeroplanes. There are lots of videos on you tube on how to make different paper aeroplanes. Have fun experimenting. Does the different types of paper make a difference?

Task 2

make a poster to thank the different key workers that help us. It could be for the bin men, postmen, cleaners, shop workers and truck drivers anyone you want to thank. Display it in your window for everyone to see. 

 

Task 3

Carry on with your recycling at home, finding out what different objects are made from. Have you made a poster yet to encourage people to recycle?

Any posters you make send them to year1@st-bartholomews.lancs.sch.uk and we will put them on the website for everyone to see.
